Extremely helpful in understanding the main idea

I used this textbook as a supplement study tool for my high school biology class. This is one of the most comprehensive texts that I've come across. The content is easy to understand and the diagrams are coherent. If you are looking for a book that translates biological jargon, this is the definitely the one. This book has helped me get throught the SAT II's and other standardized tests. I also recommend buying the test data bank, which also runs by the same author and publisher. The depth of the topics covered, do not reach beyond a high school level general biology class. For AP Biology or general biology in college, I suggest you to purchase "Life on Earth" by Gerald and Teresa Audesirk or "Biology" by Neil A. Campbell and Jane B. Reece.

From tragedy to transformation

Life After Death is the third book by this author that I have read, and it is my favorite. In my experience, it is rare to find an autobiography the lays the author's life out for all to see with such remarkable and unflinching honesty. He describes a tumultuous and tragic life of extraordinary highs and devastating lows, from success, fame and wealth as a racecar driver, to the eventual physical, financial and personal collapse of it all. What followed was his tireless quest for freedom from the nightmare. For anyone who feels unworthy of spiritual realization, this story is a gift. As serious as our own shortcomings may be, Charlie's book drives home the fact that we are not our stories, and in truth, have no past. As he puts it, there was never a me. "It was merely the phantom of `my' soap opera." After the autobiographical part of the book, the second half details the form of self-investigation that ultimately led him to peace and wholeness. Wonderful pointers and dialogues reveal clearly how one is led within, and opened to the possibility of experiencing the truth, rather than thinking about it. With authenticity and clarity, and a keen desire to point others to what has been transforming for him, Charlie gives us yet another great book. I highly recommend it! Rajanarayanan Thottuvaikkatumana, "Raj", is a seasoned technologist with more than 23 years of software development experience at various multinational companies. He has lived and worked in India, Singapore, and the USA, and is presently based out of the UK. His experience includes architecting, designing, and developing software applications. He has worked on various technologies including major databases, application development platforms, web technologies, and big data technologies. Since 2000 onwards, he has been working mainly in Java-based technologies, and has been doing heavy-duty server-side programming in Java and Scala. He has worked on very highly concurrent, highly distributed, and high-transaction-volume systems with NoSQL data stores such as Cassandra and Riak and caching technologies such as Redis, Ehcache, and Chronicle Map. Raj has a lot of experience in integrating Cassandra with Spark and has shared the Scala code repository on GitHub. Raj holds one master's degree in Mathematics and one master's degree in Computer Information Systems, and has many certifications in ITIL and Cloud Computing to his credit. Apart from all this, Raj is a prolific corporate trainer on various technical subjects and has contributed to the Apache Cassandra project. When not working with computers, Raj watches a lot of tennis and he is an avid listener of classical music. Cassandra Design Patterns is a superb introduction to Cassandra, for anyone approaching the subject from a traditional RDBMS background. All the important fundamental concepts are explained clearly and concisely, and in RDBMS terms.

The book provides historical context surrounding the application design, which helps the reader to grasp the reasons behind Cassandra design decisions. I think this results in a more complete understanding of the subject for the reader. The author does this without getting bogged down or including irrelevant details.

Particular attention is paid throughout the book to use cases where the application is deployed as a replacement for, or in operation with, existing non-distributed storage systems. The author methodically works over a number of categories of real-world uses, and works out each example completely. The task of applying these examples is discussed in each case.

My favourite aspect of the book is the approach to the use cases: the author begins by discussing the relevant practical application, and then carefully deconstructs it down into a Cassandra setup. He makes sure to mention any obscure 'gotchas' or tweaks to the setup that may be necessary in certain circumstances.

A Must Read for Serious People Who Want to be Debt Free

I just finished reading Anna's book and i really liked it. Not everything relates to me or my debt, but there are tons of tips and ideas in the book that i can use. For example, at the very end she gives you a list of 150 things to do besides spend money including washing your car, write someone a letter, bake cookies, lie in the grass and watch the clouds, pet your cat/dog, go on a hike, Netflix binge, dance, go for a bike ride, etc. I even added a few of my own when i made my own personal list like kiss my kids and call my parents/sibling. It really opened my up to the fact that there really are a billion other things that are better in life than buying something i don't need.

She also discusses the way you will feel so much better once you are out of debt because now you can save more or put money towards a house or vacation or whatever you want. Anna Newell Jones also hits the nail on the head when she mentions that you are going to see your finances differently once you are done fasting and paying off debt.

Before i read this book, i was already in the process of paying down debt my own which has been working just fine, my system just needed a little tweaking... enter Anna's book... and while paying down my own debt i began to see money so differently. Not more important per se, just something that really did matter. I have kids and can't afford to be spending like its my day job because frankly its not. I'm a Navy wife with limited income and bills to pay and so i relate to Anna when she mentioned in the book that you are going to appreciate your money more and be careful what you are buying. The Needs and Wants lists were also dead on. I saw that my husband and I were constantly buying random stuff online, endless drinks at 7/11, tools from Lowe's, not to mention that the weekly Wal-Mart trips were adding up, etc. I had to put an end to it and im glad i did. Now we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and the dream house and dream vacations are almost within reach.

As future "wanna be homesteaders," not having to rely on everyday things like internet, a mortgage, car loans, etc., is a seriously important thing to my family and i see now that i can make this dream happen. Anna's book definitely helped light a fire under my you know what!

A finance book that resonates with me!!

I have been a long time reader of Anna's blog and part of an online group of spend fasters. The book is written in a tone that is tough, patient and most of all supportive. Anna is nothing short of inspirational and helpful and the information contained hits home and works!!! To the other reviewer - I've read a few Dave Ramsey books and it's folly to even compare the two. Two different tones, two different target audiences and two different people. There is room for both in the genre but I know which one I'd prefer...

Useful and Authentic

There is a lot I like about this book. First: the author, Anna Newell Jones, cusses appropriately and in moderation when talking about how to get out of debt, and uses language in a conversational manner that at times made me feel like I was having a warm-hearten chat over coffee with a friend. That is something I have not seen by any other author on the subject of debt, let alone money in general. Second: this book is not about a single, rigid, prescription of getting out of debt; it goes through options that the reader is supposed to tailor to one's own situation in providing examples of behavior change, which is extremely helpful for my own case. Third: Anna is a blogger that I have been following for several years, and her book is not an exact replication of blog posts over a period of time. The resources she provides are concrete and useful. I strongly recommend this book to people who feel caught up in the rat race and are looking for real-life options for how to become debt-free.

I have had a hard copy of the original IGOS Grimoire Verum for some time it is
an extremely powerful grimoire which I have used with affect in magickal Rituals.
Having now the opportunity at this price is really a gift for the Magician that wants
to take the step to the next level of real Magick. In particular, you will find that a true
Grimoire has power simply by itself, I know this is true for this Grimoire and also
the Red Dragon by the same author. It is truly Magickal.
