About the Author
Ryan Kurczak graduated from Fairmont State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minor in Philosophy. After college he attended the Mountain State School of Massage, and completed training with The American Institute of Vedic Studies and the European Institute of Vedic Studies in the subjects of Yoga, Ayurveda and Jyotish. He has studied astrology intensively under Richard Fish and Ernst Wilhelm. Ryan was initiated by Roy Eugene Davis, a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda. He teaches group meditation and Kriya Yoga practices, at various Yoga and New Thought Centers, and works with sincere students individually. Clear and generous information

I am new at kryia yoga through SRF organization. The instructions in the lessons sent to me were not clear enough for me to understand how to proceed with the technique. Ryan is generous with information, uses words I can relate in order to practice the kryia yoga technique appropriately.... hopefully.Very helpful in assisting me to follow the path.

Excellent Guide to the Yoga Sutras!

I highly recommend this new commentary of the Yoga Sutras by Ryan Kurczak. It's been a while since I have read a commentary so fresh and full of new perspective. Ryan demonstrates time and again his high knowledge of Yoga and its processes in each and every verse of the Sutras. Ryan Kuczak is a yogi through and through and has firsthand knowledge of many of the higher states of Consciousness as described by Patanjali. When a Spiritual text is written by someone who has experienced the Spiritual states described in the text, it is obvious to the reader; there is a certain "fragrance" to the words on the page. Kriya Yoga has a "fragrance" of Truth and authenticity in its pages. Ryan's writings are permeated in the essence of the Kriya Yoga lineage of Gurus and his Spiritual Teacher, Roy Eugene Davis. Anyone who has never read the Sutras before will really enjoy Kriya Yoga, and likewise, someone who has read the Sutras many times can also benefit from Ryan's fresh perspectives.

An Ideal Guide to Self Knowledge

This is by far the most clear and direct commentary on the yoga sutras that I have found. Many authors add long commentary with lots of flowery sanskrit words that go on and on. If one is a sanskrit scholar then that is great; but it ends up leaving the rest of us (westerners especially) somewhat confused about the meaning and complexity of a verse.
And then other commentaries I have found have seemed too technical in explanation, not simple enough in my opinion.
In both cases, I did not fully understand the meaning of some verses of the Yoga Sutras until I read Ryan's commentary. It presents a great balance between the technical and poetic styles of explanation.
He describes and explains the sutras in his own words, and in plain english. And to me, this solidifies his understanding of the Sutras and reveals how much he has contemplated them. If one really knows what they are talking about, then they can explain it in their own words very simply, and dont have to rely on the Sanskrit jargon.
